No holes = continuous load path across the full strap width. The strap doesn't care where you cinch it. Infinite adjustment in ~2mm increments, not five fixed positions, one of which is always slightly wrong.

Will nylon hold up better than leather?
Yes, and not by a little. Woven nylon has higher tensile strength than a leather strap of the same width, and it doesn't dry out, crack or stretch. Leather fails at the hole. This has no hole to fail at.

Will the buckle scratch?
It's anodised, not painted. The colour is part of the metal, so it doesn't flake or chip off the way a painted buckle does after six months on a jobsite.

Will it set off a metal detector?
It's a small aluminium plate, so it reads like any metal belt buckle at a detector. Nothing unusual.

What if I gain weight?
No holes means infinite adjustment in about 2mm steps, so the belt follows your waist. Same belt whether you're at 34 or 38.
