Here at GRIP6 we're committed to crafting durable, long-lasting products that are functional and stylish. We want to share our story with you--the genesis of our ideas, the ethical standards we live by, and the every day behind-the-scenes of our headquarters in Utah. We want to open up our process to everyone who wants to read it, so join us!
Wool is the superfood of textiles. Not only does it wick moisture, but also contains anti-bacterial and anti-microbialproperties, without the use of chemicals! Translation: say good-bye to stinky shoes and feet. The wool fibers themselves are extremely strong and elastic, giving an immediate stretchy yet supportive comfort that lasts.
And wool insulates, keeping your feet warm in the winter and cool in the summer. These unique wool qualities cannot be mentioned without a nod to its unbelievable breathability, keeping air and moisture moving out while body temperature stays stable.
One principal reason we decided to make our socks out of wool is that it is easily renewable, recyclable, and locally sourced. This allows for responsible scalability as more and more people realize how amazing GRIP6 Socks are. We've developed great relationships with the ranchers that provide the source of our wool. We've already teamed up with Albert Wilde, a 6th generation sheep rancher, to create and operate a wool testing station right here in Utah. This endeavor will ensure wool quality continues to increase not only for GRIP6 products, but for many other wool products across America.
The crux of any nation's economy rests on its manufacturing independence. So we do as much as we possibly can ourselves in our shop in Midvale, Utah. Our own Sock Master, Cassidy Keyes, has spent the last year and a half becoming our in-house expert in sock construction and manufacturing.
The journey from original concept to this marvel of modern footwear manufacturing was certainly a challenge. Finding the correct blend of wool yarn and working out design kinks took months. But building is what we love to do. Some people do crossword puzzles, GRIP6 solves and perfects the challenges of American manufacturing with the guiding principles of quality, personal responsibility, and service, to bring you the best products on the market. We're obsessed with it. We aren’t very good at crossword puzzles anyway.
The key to a sock is a comfort so complete it is unnoticeable. Like all great creations, it should look and feel effortless. Our socks take the job of comfort seriously. From our extensive trial and error we found the best balance of comfort and cushion in a medium terry knit sock floor. The upper foot is knit with a giving and breathable flat stitch. But comfort isn’t enough. We wanted to create comfort that could last for years and years.
Our talented creative team, led by Kevin Rogers, integrated colors and designs that embody a classic but unique feel.
From there we sent our most promising designs out to customers and fans of Grip6 for feedback. We wanted to make not only what we thought was the best sock money can buy, but also what you want. We’d like to thank everyone who took time to give us thoughtful feedback, answered surveys, and beta tested early editions of the GRIP6 Sock.
